Ms. Madeline M. Tavarez is the Senior Director of Emergency Management Operations and Planning for NYC Health + Hospitals, an integrated public health care delivery system comprised of 11 hospitals, six long-term care facilities, five neighborhood health centers, and a home care agency. In this role, Ms. Tavarez oversees key emergency management initiatives across the system.
Before her time with NYC Health + Hospitals, Ms. Tavarez served as the Senior Program Manager for the Primary Care Development Corporation’s Performance Improvement team. She specialized in emergency management and preparedness initiatives. She has worked with many clients on the development, implementation, and evaluation of emergency management programs and training. In addition, she has designed, led, and collaborated on numerous multi-agency/cross-sector emergency preparedness exercises that have tested infectious disease and workplace violence protocols and mass communications systems.
Ms. Tavarez holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration from Long Island University and a Master of Public Administration in Emergency and Disaster Management from Metropolitan College of New York.
Ms. Tavarez supports numerous emergency management forums to promote emergency management resources for private and public health care sector organizations. In addition, she is involved in emergency preparedness advisory boards and coalitions that work to build more resilient communities.
