Buffalo Strong: Response and Recovery to an Active Shooter Incident
On February 9th, 2021 a gunman entered the Allina Health Buffalo Crossroads clinic located in Buffalo, MN. The gunman opened fire on staff in the clinic, killing one and injuring 4 additional. This event launched a large scale command response that focused on the recovery and rebuild of a feeling of safety. This presentation will describe the immediate response and long term recovery for not just the Buffalo Crossroads clinic; but Allina Health system as well.

Kyra Crepin is a System Emergency Manager with Allina Health with primary responsibilities for Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Allina Commons, Owatonna Hospital, and Faribault Medical Center. She has served in this position since September 2020. She was previously an Emergency Management Specialist at University of Minnesota Medical Center with MHealth Fairview as well as Emergency Planner for Fairfax County Health Department. When not at work she enjoys hiking, biking, and spending time with her partner Colton and dog Lillie.
